In loving memory of my dad, Alan Schroeder

On March 29th, 2014, I lost my dad and the sweetest man I know. While there's a hole in my heart the size of Texas, my determination to find a cure for Parkinson's Disease is stronger than ever.

My dad waged a heroic fight with humor and grace, finding the funniest moments in his challenges. He continued to bless our lives everyday with his courage and generosity. We knew him as the kindest and most compassionate man; I'm undoubtably the woman I am today because of his wonderful example.

Nothing could have prepared me for the sudden blow of such an important loss, no matter how much we planned considering his degenerative disease. What I wouldn't give for one last hug, one last laugh, or to hear him call me Gwennie one last time. But now I can rest easier knowing that he'll never have to suffer another day in his failing body.

My family asks you to consider a donation in my dad's name to The Michael J. Fox Foundation in support of a cure for Parkinson's Disease.

With love,

Five million people worldwide are living with Parkinson's disease - a chronic, degenerative neurological disorder. In the United States, 60,000 new cases will be diagnosed this year alone. There is no known cure for Parkinson's disease.

Team Fox is The Michael J. Fox Foundation's (MJFF) grassroots community fundraising program.  It is made up of thousands of people worldwide who raise funds and awareness for Parkinson's disease research.  All funds raised through Team Fox go directly to MJFF to further its mission to accelerate the delivery of life-changing treatments, and ultimately a cure, to people with Parkinson's disease.

Help us speed a cure for Parkinson's!
