The Drive For a Cure- Monday June 3rd at Myopia HC

Dear Friends, Family and Colleagues:

Last year was the first, of what I hope to be many, fundraisers for the Michael J Fox Parkinson's Foundation.  Last year, on short notice, but with terrific participation, we were able to raise over $17,000.

On Monday June 3rd I hope we are able to raise over $20,000 and with your help I know we can do this.

My story is below and clearly means everything to me.  However, I strongly encourage you to take 15 minutes and watch the following video from ESPN E60.  It is an incredibly powerful story about Ben Petrick and his battle with Parkinsons.

Eight years ago, my father was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease.  When I first learned of his diagnosis, I was terrified.  I did not know much about the disease, but had watched our minister take care of her husband, who was also afflicted with Parkinson's and required 24 hour care while confined to his wheelchair.  I was told that "thankfully,"  at my father's age (70 at the time) his age would pose a greater problem in life than the Parkinson's disease.  I took little comfort in that statement then, and I take little comfort in it now.  These last 8 years have been a confluence of 'trial and error' as doctors prescribed a myriad of drugs, hoping some might help, knowing few would have any meaningful impact other than to mitigate some of the deteriorating effects of the disease.

Very little is known about this disease: how to test for it, treat it and most importantly, CURE IT.

I hope that through efforts like this one, we can one day find a cure for this awful disease that affects so many wonderful people.  Please take a minute to read the information below for a better understanding of The Michael J. Fox Foundation (MJFF)  and Parkinson's itself.

Thank you all in advance for your generosity.

Sincerely, Henry
