Welcome to my Fundraising page!
Five million people worldwide are living with Parkinson’s disease — a chronic, degenerative neurological disorder. In the United States, 60,000 new cases will be diagnosed this year alone. There is no known cure for Parkinson’s disease. But you can help change this!
I'm so excited to be a part of Team Fox for the 2013 ING NYC Marathon. Help me cross the finish line by donating to my fundraising efforts. No donation is too small!
I started running 3 years ago when I completed my very first road race, a 5k, and a Half Marathon in the same year. I have now completed two half marathons and several other road races. It's been a dream of mine to complete a full marathon. I always knew that if I was going to run a marathon I would do it while supporting a charity. The months of training I have ahead of me will be fueled by my determination to help a cause near and dear to my heart.
I will be running this marathon with a special person in mind, my Uncle Frank. He was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease a few years ago. He is one of the most hard working, determined and passionate people I know. He has not let his diagnosis get in the way of his life or his accomplishments. He continues to run a successful general contracting business despite the struggles of living with a disease that has neurological & physical effects. He has never let it slow him down. When talking about his newest project, he lights up with enthusiasm and excitement as if it was the first job he ever completed. He's been running a successful business for over 20 years but every project is completed with the same attention to detail. As one of my father's big brothers, he has always been someone my dad has admired for his work ethic. He would often tell me stories of the jobs he worked on along side his brother and the amazing work they completed because of my uncle's thoroughness & expertise. My Uncle Frank is a great role model for sticking with your goals and completing them with purpose.
I have learned, through my Uncle Frank, that with hard work and willpower you can accomplish anything, no matter what life throws at you. I will be channeling his determination while training for and running the NYC marathon this November. When I feel tired I will think about the strength he has every day to live with PD. Thank you Uncle Frank for being an inspiration not only for this race but everyday!
Please help me raise money for the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research. Every dollar helps us get one step closer to a cure that is so desperately needed.
Thank you for your support!
