One for the road

This upcoming Sunday (two days before my 50th birthday) I believe will be my sixth and last marathon.

It was roughly 10 years ago I was diagnosed with young-onset Parkinson’s disease. Parkinson’s is--briefly--a chronic degenerative disorder of the central nervous system resulting from brain cell loss that cause a loss of dopamine and leaves those living with Parkinson’s less and less able to direct or control their movement.
Training for this race hasn’t been easy.  There have been setbacks. My hope to run the 26.2 miles has turned into an acceptance to walk the course.
I am in the marathon with Team Fox, part of the Michael J. Fox Foundation For Parkson’s Research.  And as in the past, I continue to raise funds for the critical research sponsored by MJFF that will someday lead to better therapies and yes, eventually, to a cure for Parkinson’s.
Your generosity is appreciated.
Thank you,
