100% of funds donated to TEAMFOX will used for Parkinson's Research

(thank to a very generous anonymous donor)

Dear Friends, Family, Community Members, and Parkinson's disease Supporters,

Thanks so much for your kindness, emotional support and monetary donations over the last 6 years that I have lived with Parkinson's Disease and worked with TEAM FOX to raise awareness for Parkinson's Disease and funds for the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research. I appreciate all your kind words and generosity.  This will be my last marathon.  I have had a few falls running this past summer due to my worsening gait which resulted in a torn rotator cuff and biceps tendon; I just underwent surgery and plan to power walk the marathon. I am dedicating this race to my Mom who recently passed away after a brief fight with Leukemia..I can't thank her enough for her love, support and reminders to stay positive

Five million people worldwide are living with Parkinson's disease - a chronic, degenerative neurological disorder. In the United States, 60,000 new cases will be diagnosed this year alone. There is no known cure for Parkinson's disease. Parkinson's is a disease of the brain which is known for its motor symptoms such as tremors, rigidity, slowness, irregular movements and gait problems.  Parkinson's disease also results in many non-motor symptoms such as anxiety/depression and impairment of cognitive functions.

TEAMFOX is The Michael J. Fox Foundation's (MJFF) grassroots community fundraising program. It is made up of thousands of people worldwide who raise funds and awareness for Parkinson's disease research. The commitment and dedication of the TEAMFOX family is inspirational and infectious.  Their creativity and talent have resulted in many innovative fundraising events such as pancake breakfasts held on many college campuses and other communities (coordinated by a 12 year old in one Minnesota town), young professional events, races, card tournaments, zumbathons, comedy shows, concerts, auctions,etc.......it goes on and on.  Thanks to an anonymous donor, 100% of funds raised through TEAM FOX go directly to MJFF to further its mission to accelerate the delivery of life-changing treatments, and ultimately a cure, to people with Parkinson's disease.

Why the Michael J. Fox Foundation

Because the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinsons's Research is committed to finding a cure for Parkinson's disease through an aggressively funded research agenda and they have the determination and intellect to do so.... .. Michael J. Fox cares!!! The MJFF is 100% patient focused; they work tirelessly towards their mission to accelerate the delivery of life-changing treatments, and ultimately a cure, to people with Parkinson's disease. They are uniformly dedicated, intelligent, open-minded, creative and business savvy. They are risk takers and problem solvers; they allocate their resources wisely and have from inception, invested in high-risk, high-reward research targets.   I am confident that THEY WILL FIND A CURE!!!

Help us speed a cure for Parkinson's!!!!

A special thanks to Michael J. Fox and the TEAM FOX staff and volunteers for their optimism, dedication and tireless efforts; you have given me and other PD patients hope.  Thanks to my Mom, to Allison and Karin, to my brothers and sisters and their families, and to Mark, for your endless support, patience, encouragement and love. I couldn't do it without you.

A special thanks also to the MAXIMUS Foundation, the non-profit charitable organization associated with MAXIMUS FEDERAL SERVICES where I am employed.  The MAXIMUS Foundation is funded by donations from employees and supplemented by charitable donations by the Company. With their innovative fund raising campaign, they were successful in encouraging many employees to contribute to their Foundation and in turn donated $3,000 to my 2013 fundraising campaign.
